Colli Berici

Region Insight

Colli Berici sits on a compact ring of low, ancient volcanic hills just south of Vicenza in Veneto. The region blends a long vineyard tradition with a focus on aromatic, food-friendly whites and approachable, fruity reds. Winemakers emphasize freshness and clarity of fruit, producing crisp Garganega- and Tai-based whites, delicate sparkling wines and soft Merlot-led reds. Small-scale growers and cooperatives have modernized since the late 20th century while maintaining local typicity: restrained alcohol, lively acidity and mineral hints from the unique hill soils, making Colli Berici wines easy-drinking yet expressive of their hillside origins.

Climate & Terroir

A moderate continental climate tempered by nearby lowland and Adriatic influences gives warm summers and cool nights. Vineyards occupy gentle to steep slopes of ancient volcanic origin with tuff, weathered basalt, limestone and clay components. Elevation and varied aspects provide good drainage and sun exposure, while cooler hilltop sites preserve acidity and impart mineral and herbal notes to the wines.
