Sanlúcar de Barrameda, nestled on the Atlantic coast of Andalusia, Spain, is the exclusive home of Manzanilla Sherry. This unique fortified wine owes its distinct character to the town's cool, humid maritime climate and the influence of the Guadalquivir river. Manzanilla is a dry, pale Sherry, known for its crisp, saline tang and delicate flor yeast influence, which imparts almond and chamomile notes. Its history is intertwined with the Sherry trade, dating back centuries, and its production remains deeply rooted in traditional methods. The aging process, taking place in bodegas under a layer of flor yeast, distinguishes it from other Sherries. Manzanilla is best enjoyed chilled as an aperitif, perfectly complementing seafood and tapas.
