Biferno

Region Insight

Biferno is a distinguished DOC located in the Molise region of southern Italy, stretching from the Adriatic coast into the rugged hills of the Campobasso province. Named after the Biferno River, this appellation is the viticultural heart of Molise, blending ancient traditions with modern winemaking. It is most famous for its robust, structured red wines, which primarily utilize Montepulciano blended with a touch of Aglianico. Biferno represents a bridge between the styles of Abruzzo and Campania, offering high-quality, characterful wines that reflect its unique Mediterranean landscape.
